SARAH —

Sarah (she/her) founded Sarah Sommers Design in 2009, with the vision of bringing about meaningful change through strategic design. Her work builds upon her unique background in anthropology, mass communication, and graphic design. Today, Sarah manages the studio and is active in all client engagements. 


GABBY —

Gabby (she/her) is the studio’s senior graphic designer. After earning her BFA from the Illinois Institute of Art she moved to Guatemala to work for the nonprofit Cojolya Association of Maya Women Weavers, an organization dedicated to helping empower indigenous Maya artisans in harnessing their artistry and heritage as an economically viable source of employment. Today, Gabby continues to pursue her passion for using communication design as a way to get people thinking about, talking about and taking action for good.


DANIELLA —

Daniella (she/her) is the studio’s Communications Strategist. She is a writer and editor proficient in adapting to a variety of tones, goals, and mediums. She has a background in theatre and arts administration and has performed comedy throughout Chicago. She’s written for and been featured in various outlets locally in Chicago as well as throughout the country, including WBEZ, The Boston Globe, Slate, and Chicago Tribune. She is passionate about accessibility and enjoys collaborating with a client to grow their skills and capacity to broaden the reach and scope of their remarkable work.


WHITNEY —

Whitney (they/them) is the studio’s digital specialist and a multi-disciplinary artist. Whitney has an extensive background in assisting arts and humanities organizations and creative small businesses with copywriting, social media and design. Originally from Arkansas, Whitney has been a theatre generalist, a nationally-touring standup comedian, and is now primarily a visual artist.


ELLIE —

Ellie (they/them) is the studio's graphic designer and project coordinator. They are an illustrator and graphic designer whose work has been featured in the South Side Weekly, Chicago Sun-Times, WBEZ, and more. With experience in nonprofit journalism and civic engagement, Ellie brings a passion for communal care to their creative work.
